World premiere at the Caravan Salon: Dethleffs presents the first e-caravan

Last year, the e.home by Dethleffs, the first all-electric motorhome, caused a sensation at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf. This year, the Allgäu manufacturer of recreational vehicles has broadened its own horizon and shown how electric mobility for caravans can break down long established principles.

The Dethleffs e.home coco is the first caravan with its own electric drive. But this is not the only sensation the study has to offer. “The expected spread of electric mobility poses a challenge for the classic caravan, since for the foreseeable future, the battery capacity of electric cars will not be sufficient to achieve a realistic range with a trailer”, says Dethleffs Managing Director, Alexander Leopold.

He is sure that “with the Dethleffs e.home coco, we will reinvent the basic idea of the caravan and expand the range of applications for caravans – even in times of electric cars. Our study has developed from a pure caravan into a self-propelled 'home on wheels', thus completely reinventing the original trailer built by our company founder Arist Dethleffs in 1931. This concept will revolutionize caravanning in the future and be a milestone when it comes to sustainability and everyday usage”.
